X17
X17
X17 is a Seattle gallery run by artists for artists. Our goal is to create interesting art events that feature highly curated shows with artwork we think is exciting, interesting & important. We give emerging artists a chance to showcase their work, and highlight controversial or counter culture art in a manner not possible in many other venues. We are an active participant of Seattle’s First Thursday Artwalk. X17 also does not take a sales commission.
Studio X17 was founded May 2008 by Carl Faulkner and Redd Walitzki.
In the past three years X17 has showcased over 200 different artists (both local and international.) Exhibiting artists have included Brom & Laurie Brom, Ellen Forney, Nicole Laverty, Carlos Esparza, Joe Vollan, Weirdo, Jeffrey Taylor, J.P. Farquar, Solace, Carlos Aguilar, Enfu and many others.
Currently, X17 is one of many studios affected by the State of Washington’s decision to evict all of the artists from the 619 Western building due to construction of the new Alaskan Way Deep-bore Tunnel. Along with 100+ other seattle artists, we now need to find a new venue and community to be able to continue our work. But X17 is taking active steps to acquire a replacement building in Seattle’s Pioneer Square. Please visit us here or on facebook for further updates...
